1. Performance

Suggested a design should remain strongly performance driven, with precision at the core, reinforcing accuracy, control, and reliability as essential values.

3. Innovation

Proposed a more vertical hand posture to increase comfort and reduce strain, improving ergonomics and safety without sacrificing control or precision.

2. Comfort

Stated how comfort supports long-term performance by reducing fatigue, leading to greater consistency, control, and sustained accuracy over time.

4. Familiarity

Recommended maintaining a sense of familiarity to help users transition smoothly to new interactions while preserving confidence, control, and ease of use.

Recommendation

Satellite suggested exploring the vertical “mouse” route further, noting that while there are clear ergonomic benefits, there are currently no effective options available in that market.

Keeping your hand in a palm-down mouse position poses long-term health risks

“Sustained, repetitive mouse use places stress on wrist joints, increasing inflammation and the risk of developing arthritis over time.”

— Arthritis Foundation

What is the optimal position?

Keeping your hand in a vertical, natural position, improves comfort and reduces long-term injury and overuse.

Design Statement

There needs to be an advancement in how users interact with a “mouse,” allowing for a vertical hand posture that supports long-term safety and comfort while still evolving interaction methods for faster, more precise control.

Innovations

Advanced gaming keyboards use Hall effect technology to sense magnetic forces with greater accuracy. This allows keys to actuate faster and more consistently than traditional mechanical switches.

This project applies a similar principle by using muscle-activation sensors in the wrist to enable faster, more responsive inputs and provide a performance advantage. EMG wrist sensors are strategically placed to track muscle signals as they are activated.

CONTECTIVE OPENNESS

The Concept

Opening the front and back of the headphones connects users to the outside world, enabling them to hear bodily cues, trust their surroundings, and stay engaged with their activity.

The iris mechanism on the back adjusts to block or allow outside noise by using a ring on the outside, giving users control over their sound environment.
